| In order to ensure that our clearing members will be prepared for the Year 2000, the Clearing House Finance Committee has determined that participation in the FIAs Year 2000 systems tests for both unit testing and full industry testing will be mandatory for all CME clearing members. The FIA Year 2000 Executive Committee requested that participation in pre-testing and full industry testing in 1999 be mandatory for all exchanges clearing members. Unit testing (i.e. pre-testing) focuses on the links between the exchange and the back office, and includes back office vendors, clearing members, and members who employ their own back office software. The first phase of Year 2000 unit testing was held from June through September of 1998. The exchanges were responsible for setting test times, which occurred primarily on early weekday morning hours. Firms could submit or receive test data at any time within constraints imposed by the exchanges. By requiring pre-testing, most communications and connectivity problems can be resolved prior to the full industry test and will help increase the success factor. Pre-testing will be offered through additional unit testing to be scheduled early in 1999. Attached are the FIAs Beta Test Results. Clearing members are encouraged to keep informed of testing developments through the FIAs web site, www.fiafii.org. Questions regarding the Year 2000 testing can be addressed to Michele Ivanski, MIS Administrative Services, at (312) 930-8159. |
